"Magic Mirror" is the sixteenth track by Melanie Martinez featured on the deluxe version of her second studio album, Fairytale Dreams.
Theme[]
This song is about people who feel insecure looking at themselves in the mirror. Melanie said you can interpret the song as being about gender dysphoria, or eating disorders, but she just wanted to put all that under a generalized category.

Don't call me a narcissist
I just love to see myself in the mirror
But everything's gone to shit
I thought that the glass would get clearer
I used to wanna fuck
The me I saw in the mirror
But now it's just too much
Everything's lost its glimmer
And so I say
Magic mirror on the wall
Who's the fairest of them all
'Cause it definitely ain't me
How could you disagree
Magic mirror on the wall
You're just an object after all
But I need someone to talk to me
When I was a young girl
I'd make funny faces in the mirror
But now the mirror unsettles me
Scanning my face for an error
I used to really love
The me I saw in the mirror
But now it's gone to hell
I see fire instead of glitter
And so I say
Magic mirror on the wall
Who's the fairest of them all
'Cause it definitely ain't me
How could you disagree
Magic mirror on the wall
You're just an object after all
But I need someone to talk to me
We all need to see things a little clearer
And love who we see in the magic mirror
We all need to see things a little clearer
And love who we see in the magic mirror
We all need to see things a little clearer
And love who we see in the magic mirror
We all need to see things a little clearer
And love who we see in the magic mirror
Magic mirror on the wall
Who's the fairest of them all
'Cause it definitely ain't me
How could you disagree
Magic mirror on the wall
You're just an object after all
But I need someone to talk to me
But I need
But I need someone
But I need someone to talk to me
