Fairytale Dreams is the second studio album by Melanie Martinez. It was written in collaboration with one of her fans, Maddie, also known as DFG.
Background[]
Melanie held a contest in 2017, where all you had to do to enter was to submit a video singing the chorus of one of her songs. The winner was a middle school student named Maddie, who had entered using Dead to Me. She got to collaborate with Melanie on her second album.
Story[]
The album tells the story of Cry Baby's daughter, Sophia, from both her (DFG) and her mother's (Melanie) perspective. Some of the songs are about things that actually happened to DFG, but most of them are fictional events. The album noticeably has a fairytale theme, but not all the songs follow the theme, unlike Cry Baby.
